Not too long ago while walking my well-behaved Scottish Terrier, Hamish, down the street a man living in a townhome complex told me to keep my "miserable mutt" away from his home and children because "it'll be only a matter of time until he bites." When I asked him why he felt this way he told me it was because he saw Hamish in the summer "trying to attack a cyclist and looked vicious even when muzzled." What utter trite; Hamish was on a Halti and just barked at the cyclist when he came up from behind us too quickly and without warning, so
understandably he was just spooked. Goes to show you how many people are paranoid and misinterpret dog behavior and why every dog owner has to be concerned about this "law."

You mean he barked when spooked by a bike?
Whatta KILLER! Ticking time bomb, I say!....(*SIGH*).
I'm sorry your neighbor is passing such unfair judgment against your baby.

Just reinforces my thoughts......more and more humans ought to be muzzled, and leave the doggies alone!

Sheesh. Sorry about that mom of 2 dogs. Some people are so anti dog. And its not fair to anyone. Next thing you know this guy will be complaining about the chihuahua down the street.
I would have just mocked him. Usually if you don't take these peoples comments seriously and laugh at them it makes them feel dumb.

I've had numerous people ask me why I even bother taking my dog in public if she is so vicious that she has to be muzzled.
I have a gentle leader, because she pulls like she weighs 50 pounds, rather than 17. I have a cocker spaniel. Even in places like petsmart there are so many uninformed people who drag their kids away from our 6 month old puppy because apparently she is a terror, because we keep her 'muzzled'.

We were once walking a trial and yes Dalton was off leash. He was sitting in the grass just on the side of a curve in the trail. All of a sudden there was a screech. A cyclist that was hell bent on racing through the trail was cursing us as we stepped around the curve. That dog ought to be on a leash, dogs shouldn’t be allowed on the trail and the rest of it. Alison shut him up with ‘and if you didn’t stop for him sitting there you would of run us down as you came around the corner – RIGHT”? Bikes shouldn’t be allowed on the trail. Where’s your bell?
We leash him up near the corners now and have found that many cyclists especially the clubs are respectful of us if we are respectful of them. They use their bells, we make the dogs sit (on leash) as they pass and they make comments like ‘two more coming behind’.
This morning I ran out of cream so I walked the little guy (pointer) to the store. I was tying him up to the ice machines as the service door opened. The employee started telling me she was surprised to see a dog. Apparently she had a nightmare the night before that at a baseball game her child was attacked and had her face torn up by a dog. She said she had no reason why she had that dream. I said maybe all the newspaper hype. She said no – it wasn’t a pit bull. Do you think people have been sub consciously buying into this hysteria? When you have a dream and you don’t know why I think so.

Now they have a law, a government, the press, & an idiot on their team.
It's just giving permission for miserable people to be meaner.
