Hello, All!
Lots of new faces here, but I hope some of my friends from last year are still around. I've been absent for too long.
And greetings to the new faces! Feel free to run a background check on me (old posts :D ) to fill in any blanks.
Life's been busy here, but here's a quick update on Raj and Chloe:
Raj is doing fine, despite her new diet. She was getting angry red bumps all over her body, and it was quickly diagnosed as a food allergy. Guess what she's allergic to?
Meat.
All meat! My vet says they're seeing more and more of that these days.
Anyway, she's on a vegetarian dog food: "Avo Derm". It's got no corn, but lots of other goodies in it (such as Avacado oil), and the nutritional panel is impressive. The bumps are gone, and her coat has never looked so healthy/shiny-and she hardly sheds at all now. She did lose some of the potato weight (*guilty giggle*), after being on the new food for a little while.
But if I give in (which I don't anymore) and give her just one little scrap of meat- just one tiny little piece- she'll begin itching and flaking and scratching. Her skin gets hot. If I'd give her more, the bumps would be back. So no meat at all. Not one measely bite.
I give her huge chewies made from corn starch, for a treat. She loves them. Although they come in bacon and other "flavours", they contain no actual meat product. And she likes her Greenies. Takes about ten to satisfy her Dane appetite, though. Even the big ones are not so big, and go quickly.
She also gets lots of steamed carrots (loves them) and yogurt (which is still keeping the recurring ear infections at bay) and other non-meat goodies that I make for her.
Chloe is doing just fine, as usual. No news there, aside from my actually getting her to enjoy being inside more than she used to.
So! Now I think I'll browse the site and try to catch up on all the goings-on around here! Have missed this!
Sadie
