Well, its official, the pit bulls are banned in Ontario. This is a heartbreaking day for me (and for my little Staffie Daisy). I told my boyfriend tonight that its a good thing we adopted our Boxer last month or we would be adopting another pitty ASAP. Four dogs would be too many.... but who knows what the future will bring? The thing that gets me the most about this ban thing is that there is still no onus for bad owners. I adopted a Boxer a month ago that was totally malnutritioned (weighing in at 32 lbs) and frostbitten in many spots. Tess the Boxer and Daisy the Staffie got along instantly. If Daisy was inherently vicious the way the Government says she is she would have ripped the new dog to ribbons upon meeting. Daisy has always come to all Family events (along with our Beagle Oliver, and now Tess). She plays with another family member's Jack Russell Junior like they are the best of friends. I really wish Micheal Bryant could meet my little Staffie and see that there are bad owners not bad dogs! Training and treatment are everything with dogs.... YOU GET THE DOG YOU DESERVE!

While the ban is now inevitable, it isn't quite law yet. It must first receive royal assention - which it will, this is only a formality. It then takes affect on the date proclaimed at that time. Mr. Bryant said today that he expects this will be Late summer or early spring - to give municipalities time to get ready.

There's still time for our pitties to enjoy life the way they deserve.

The fight will continue. I'll be there all the way.

Of course before a court can strike it down it has to be a law first. So that is a necessary step.

I too am ready to fund this fight as well as I can. Courts deal in fact and of course Mr. Bryant has already indicated he doesn't comment on anything that is in the courts.
