Hansard has the debate postedFaceless March 1st, 2005, 08:07 AM http://www.ontla.on.ca/hansard/house_debates/38_parl/Session1/L112.htm#P508_115482 Luvmypit March 1st, 2005, 12:52 PM I read it. There was one point when Kormos I think it was said that there would be 5 people banding together to oppose the bill. He said that that would be a first so we will see when the vote goes through. I can only think it would be 5 liberals that may decide to vote against. He also said that he will believe it when he sees it. What does that mean??? Loki March 2nd, 2005, 06:26 PM http://www.ontla.on.ca/hansard/house_debates/38_parl/Session1/L113A.htm They counted Tascona as a yes, but he voted no. wjranch March 3rd, 2005, 08:31 AM I was wondering about that, I personally attending the standing committee meeting when it was in Barrie. Mr Tascona stated he was not in favor of this....(he actually discussed this directly with an elderly woman who was in favor of it. I believe you can read the exchange in the hansard document) and then I read that he had actually voted yes! This mix up could hurt him come re-election time. It should be clarified. Also, I would like to comment on Mr Kormos. He was totally NOT in favor of this ban going through. He spoke out often and loudly at the meetings. I felt he supported dangerous dog legislation (which we need) but, NOT banning a specific breed. I suppose now we will see all the safe little children running through the meadows chasing butterflies now that those monsters (PBT's) are banned from eating them all!! ROFLMAO@false security created by 1 moron! LavenderRott March 3rd, 2005, 08:39 AM What!!! Pit bulls can't eat butterflies anymore! Sorry, I just couldn't help it. Luvmypit March 3rd, 2005, 08:48 AM I can see the headline now Pit bull mauls innocent butterfly to death. babyrocky1 March 3rd, 2005, 09:34 AM Both JoeTascona and Peeter Kormos support our side. Joe Tascona is withthe concervatives and Peter Kormos is withthe NDP and was most entertaining at the committee hearings in fact if you dont want to read all of Hansard, reading Kormos is the most fun as long as you realise he is sarcastic most of the time. TheNDP, provincially anyways, supports non breed specific legislation. and I guess the concervatives would support Julia Monroes proposed legislation. However, that is were they stand now. We need to keep them onside incase one of those parties becoomes government! Ive said it before and Ill say it again, once they become government all bets are off unless We make sure we have a committment from them and hold them to it. May be now we need to decide if we want Calgarys law, newyork state law, or our own law, whataever, I would like us to push for it to be called Courtnetys law because that i s what her MOTHER said she wanted at the Comittee hearings. wjranch March 3rd, 2005, 09:45 AM LMAO@PBT's eating butterflies..... I didn't realize that's how it read! It is a really funny mental pic though, no? I would like to see a Tshirt for All dogs that reads " I love Liberals, they taste just like chicken!" I know , I know, It wouldn't fly....but, it's a thought ;) Luvmypit March 3rd, 2005, 10:01 AM I LOVE LIBERALS, THEY TASTE JUST LIKE CHICKEN. HA HA HA That is the funniest. babyrocky1 March 3rd, 2005, 10:41 AM Thats my favorite too, but I guess the more passive ones would be better PR wise! Actually I would be into buying these shirts for my boy too! Someone should pick the top few and Make them! I just cant bring myself to walk him on a muzzle without having a visual statement of some sort. Other wise Ill be saying things like that to everyone I pass. I would realy rather not because I know that some people will be glad to see him behind that cage and that will completely enfuriate me! Copper'sMom March 3rd, 2005, 10:49 AM I must say I am extremely impressed with the members who tried their hardest to fight the bill! It's wonderful to see some members on our side!! They had excellent arguements but as usual no one is listening. I think I'll send them a short note thanking them for their support and help :) . Thank God I have never voted Liberal!! Jono March 3rd, 2005, 11:01 AM I signed up to volenteer with the Ontario PC party today at www.ontariopc.com. I'll start working with them whenever they get in touch with me. In the commentI specifically said it was bill 132 that motivated me to take action for them for the next term. I then emailed my MPP thanking her for meeting with us, and her support in the caucus, but also letting her know that because of the bill passing I am now volenteering with the PC party, and will attempt to get them elected next term so that we will have some well thought out dangerous dog legislation which doesn't target responsible owners. sammiec March 3rd, 2005, 11:03 AM I think it's the NDP that deserves us backing them... this Peter Kormos was a one man army! He was great! I am going NDP! Faceless March 3rd, 2005, 03:09 PM While Kormos is a character, the NDP have a 0% chance of getting elected as the government in the next provincial election. Jono March 3rd, 2005, 03:43 PM Kormos was without a doubt the smartest man in the room during all those hearings. I've looked him up, and he's a brilliant guy. That being said, the NDP will have to wait many more years to be elected into the post Rae Ontario, and I want a party that will be elected as soon as possible, so we can start undoing the damage the Liberals are doing. Jono mastifflover March 3rd, 2005, 04:03 PM Well either NDP or PC will get my vote. I have sent emails to a few I knew supported the anti bsl to thank them for being so open and listening to us unlike the liberals who never had any intention of listening to us. I think these guys and women deserve to know the amount of support from dog owners that they will have in the next election. Schwinn March 4th, 2005, 09:20 AM Anyone notice how Tascona brought a point of order that he voted against, not for, and when the Speaker asked if they had unaminous consent to change it, someone said no, so it stands? Not that it makes a difference in the end, but so much for democracy. I guess the Fibs want every point they can get, honest or not. twodogsandacat March 4th, 2005, 09:41 AM It wouldn't make a difference and all it took was one jerk (Liberal) to say no. Tascona was a little to eager to stand for the NAYS and that was the only mistake he made. Besides hating Liberals because of Bill132 I am pretty confident that many others hate them for many other reasons. These jerks will go, most of what they do will be overturned, some Federal Liberals may be charged with criminal offences, and years from now someone in Ontario will say 'that's a nice looking dog, what is it?". The answer will be "A pitbull". . | ||||
