I'm here....for a few.

*waves hand in air*

I do not click on many links due to way too many pop up ads, spam & cookies. Its almost to the point of coming to this board will be too much of a hassle. My new, almost new computer, will not be here for another 6 months.
I meant to post sumthin' along this line elsewhere. Anyone else with a problem on pop-ups, spam and advertising cookies?

i never get any pop ups with the board but i think it's because i have the google pop up blocker. you can download it from google if you want. i also use spybot search and destroy every week which helps to at least cut down on them.

I never get any popups on this board....??? Do other people get them? Or just when you click links to other sites?

I am at my wit's end on this problem & willing to try anything. I recently installed the yahoo blocker..it works great...except here! This site has given me the biggest grief so far as spam, ads & pop-ups....

I need Big gun's LOL!.....

Maybe the board administration can do something?...hint hint..nudge..hint??

Respectfully.....Karin

Weird, I don't get popups on this site either.
I have a free blocker that prevents maybe 80% of them...The New York Times is my home page and that site is the worst offender!

I crashed 3 PC's in 2 months so when I got this one I alcatrazed it against all that crap. Firewall, pop-up blocker, anti-spyware, anti-virus etc... blah blah. So now it can only crash this way http://pages.prodigy.net/rogerlori1/emoticons/comp1.gif.

Karin... yes I hear the beep of pop ads being blocked. Started after they installed chat.

I never ever get popups on this, or any other website, for that matter.
Go to the website below & download the free version of PanicWare's PopUp
stopper. I've had it on my computer for a couple of years & have never
experienced any problems.

Hi All,

We realize that some of the pop under ads can be annoying to visitors and invite people to use pop up blockers if they feel they are experiencing too many ads. We try to control the way the pop under ads are structured so that you should only see them at the beginning of your login session. That way you can just ignore or close the ads if you choose to. Unfortunately the reality is that the ads do help offset all the maintenance costs associated with keeping this site online. As always please, feel free to leave feedback.

We hope you understand and hope you hang around.

Karin, if I go to www.pets.ca and then click on the BB I get a pop-up everytime! And I have the google pop-up blocker! So now I don't type that in, I go right to the forum page cause it's in my favs and no more ads. Other than this site I don't get any with the google task bar... except for ones that are in the same window as what you're viewing (they eventually disappear, or slide off the screen, but they take their good old time!)... now that's annoying as hell!!!!!!!!!!!! And no pop-up blocker is gonna block that!

BTW, the links that were listed for the smileys, I did not get any pop-ups from those!

I have the General Forum set for the 1st topic I come to when I log on & I do have a pop-up blocker...works great for every where I go, except here.

Also, (since I'm on a rant..) This thread was moved! I had to hunt it down...moving threads for this old fart is like moving furniture in a blind persons house!

I think everyone should try using the new Fire Fox (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/) browser. This was created by the Mozilla team who created Netscape. It has a built in pop-up blocker so I never get pop ups unless I allow the site to. It also has a lot of available extensions and themes. I have the current weather and the next 2 days on the status bar at the bottom. :D

Same here, tonight when I logged on I had a few extra Pop-ups..

I am convinced to explore the other options offered here, it looks like my blocker is not up to par...

Thanks everyone!!!

Karin, I would definitely try the google one, it works great! The yahoo one didn't work for me at all and it came with unwanted programs too, which google doesn't.
