Bluntman I feel your pain. This guy has been writing about pit bulls forever. I have also been writing (stalking) him for ever. He has never ever took me up on any of my challenges and then here he goes blabbing mistruths.

Has anyone pointed out to this idiot that they weren't pitbulls? This is what cheeses me off, is that the misinformation is allowed to continue.

I just sent an e-mail to the Sun (I know, I shouldn't from work, but I'm really cheesed off). I think we all should pointing out that the attack he is pounding the pulpit about weren't pitbulls. I also pointed out that he was able to quote the mother saying the dogs should be put down, but didn't use the quote where she's against breed bans. Oh, and how those two quotes were in an article stating they weren't pitbulls.

I sent the sun an email YESTERDAY to the Editorial department. And now today I sent another to editor and Bob. I gave him heck for accusing vets of having an interest in keeping pits because of the money they make patching dogs up. So I asked whats his reasons the Canadian Safety Counsel and American centre for disease controls for their anti BSL support. I couldn't believe he accused the vets of that though. Thats just wrong. So now Pit owners are all drug dealing thugs that go to vets that incourage our dogs to eat other dogs. Wow. What a strech of the imagination.
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Im am so mad.

Ban on pit bulls makes sense

DEFENDERS OF DOGS BRED TO KILL REALLY DON'T HAVE A LEG TO STAND ON,
BOB MACDONALD WRITES

By BOB MACDONALD

JUST THREE days before public hearings began this week on new
legislation to ban pit bull dogs in Ontario, a savage attack by
three pit bulls occurred in Ottawa. Robert Adams, 16, and his 4-year-
old half-brother, Justin Echlin, were enjoying what many Canadian
youngsters do in January -- skating on a homemade rink.

Suddenly, three pit bulls came charging at them, knocking both boys
to the ice. Robert fought to protect his little brother until a
neighbour ran out in his bare feet and threw him a shovel to beat
back the dogs -- and then dialed 911.

Robert later said he swung as hard as he could with the shovel
against the dogs' persistent attacks, leaving the shovel cracked,
chewed and bloody from the dog bites.

Thanks to the teenager's valiant efforts, he and Justin escaped with
scratches.

"I feel that dogs that behave like this should be put down," said
their mother, Susan. Their apartment building's management said the
owners would be asked to remove the animals.

HAVE TO BE MUZZLED

Well, under the new legislation, those who already own pit bulls
will be allowed to keep them, although they will have to have them
muzzled and leashed when out in public. Meanwhile, the legislation --
introduced last fall by Attorney General Michael Bryant -- will ban
the breeding, sale and ownership of any new dogs.

The A-G, who has compared pit bulls to a loaded machinegun, said his
decision on a province-wide ban was based on their long record of
savage, determined and very damaging attacks.

And, as one who has long called for a ban on pit bulls, I say that
the legislation comes not a moment too soon.

However, Bryant -- as I warned him in print in advance -- has come
under all-out attacks by pit bull vested interests: Breeders,
veterinarians (who earn big fees patching up other dogs attacked by
pit bulls), animal rights groups, and pit bull owners.

As many of them have testified in this week's hearings, they are
against any "breed specific" legislation -- and have vowed to fight
the ban to the bitter end.

However, to the credit of Bryant and his government, they seem
determined. Included in the legislation is a $10,000 fine and six
monthjail terms for owners of any dangerous breed that bites,
attacks or poses a threat to public safety. As the Attorney General
and others have noted, the problem with pit bulls is that they were
originally bred for bull-baiting and then for dog fighting.
Unfortunately, such traits still lurk within today's versions of pit
bulls. For instance, on the first day of hearings, Louis Ellis told
how her 5-year-old daughter Lauren was permanently scarred by a pit
bull attack 10 years ago while strolling with her family on
Toronto's Danforth Ave.

The little girl required five hours of surgery and 300 stitches to
close the wounds.

"The animal rights activists will try to tell you that pit bulls
don't harm people. Lord how I wish the owner had bitten my child
instead of his dog," said the mother. And she added:

"During these hearings the victims will not be as loud as the animal
rights activists, but our voice must be heard. The wounds are real
and the fear is very real.

Please don't forget the victims of pit bull attacks."

They are many -- and continuing. Such as:

- A pit bull attack 13 months ago on 4-year-old Ryland Fowler when
his mother fought furiously to drive off the dog outside their
Rushton Crescent home in Toronto. Only the all-out efforts of a
neighbour saved the child.

"The dog wanted my son. That's all it was interested in," said
mother Deborah."Without provocation, the pit bull grabbed him. It
didn't even growl. "

- And there was William MacMillan, a 57-year-old Eastern Ontario man
attacked by a pit bull when he was collecting charitable donations:

"He just grabbed me by the face and ripped a big chunk out of my
lip," he recalled. The dog then ripped his side.

And so it goes. A pit bull ban has worked well in other
jurisdictions such as Winnipeg -- and Bryant wants Ontarians to have
the same protection.

Makes sense to me.

I wish I could make my living that way. Almost his whole article is nothing but a cut and paste from other articles. I plan on checking out these paragraphs to confirm if they are even his articles. At least 50% of what he 'reports' sounds familar and I believe could be found verbatim in other reporters articles. Is this fact lost on the Sun? I believe the Sun should investigate him for plagiarism. If I find anything I'll pass it along.

Not only that it’s a cut and paste from last weeks articles when the dogs were mistakenly identified as pits. He may have been a good reporter at one point – I don’t know – but he has certainly hit rock bottom now. Retire old man..you are starting to forget things....like the day of the week. You are no longer reporting news you are repeating historical accounts - incorrect accounts.

He reminds me of the reporter who filed stories of first hand accounts all over the world..although he never actually went anywhere...he simply read other news stories and then did a little shuffle. Pathetic Journalism.

This guy's whole article is full of mis-information but the part about the veterinarians borders on "libel" . Does anyone know any vets on a personal basis ? It would be intereasting how they would react to this accusation . The Ontario Veterinarian association probably would not take kindly to being painted as opertunists that prey on having pitbulls attacking other breeds of dogs , then profiting on the on the aftermath.

My letter to the editor mentioned it was interesting he quoted the mom saying that the dogs should be put down, but he left out the quote where she said she was against BSL. I also mentioned it was interesting that the quote came from an article that stated the dogs were not pitbulls.
