VERACRUZ, Mexico - Five guard dogs attacked their owner and his work assistant in southeastern Mexico, killing both men, police said Wednesday.
Carlos Hugo Enriquez, 45, a coroner for the state Attorney General's office, arrived at his home Tuesday evening in Cosoleacaque, 125 miles south of Veracruz, police officer Felipe Sanchez said.
The rottweilers immediately began attacking Enriquez and his assistant, Sotero Hernandez. It was unclear why the dogs attacked.
Enriquez's wife, Gladys Merlin, and two teenage children were in Jalapa, where Merlin works as a state lawmaker.
The dogs fled the house after the attack. Sanchez said police had located and killed all five.
