Can anyone please try to explain why mu cat, whom always deficated outside is suddenly deficating in the bath tub. Until two weeks ago we had two cats, one was 12 and the other (the problem one) is approximately 8. Our 12 year old cat had to be put to sleep due to an illness he had, and ever since this happened the other cat is deficating in the bath tub. Please help

What was the illness the other cat had? Could this one have the same thing? Or maybe he's now lonely and acting out.... or because it's cold out and not outside as much? It could be a number of things, has he had a vet check recently?

Maybe he is getting to old to go outside (to cold) maybe if you get a good litter box and good litter, and put it beside the bathtub for now.
See if that helps.

Yo should have a litter box indoors as well. Your cat might be still sad about the loss of its friend. My best friend's cat passed away almost 1.5 years ago and the other one meows and meows like crazy since she's gone!
My cat Erinie was the same way when Sally passed away...very sad, moping, meowing and pooing in corners...
clean the spot very well - no ammonia, and maybe put a litter box in the bathroom and see if that helps!
