Golden Retriever, Anemic, Lumps, Lathargic

January 13th, 2005, 10:22 PM
I have an 8 yr old golden retriever named Chance. We have been to the vet 5 times now. He is Anemic, very lathargic, & has large & small lumps forming just under the skin. He was on vitamin K & started feeling very well. Some of the lumps reduced in size. One week after getting off Vitamin K we had his blood tested again & no signs of being Anemic but, wasn't feeling well again. 5 days later, Now he is back to where he was anemic, lathargic, & reduced appatite & losing wieght.

His brother King & I are very worried he won't make it. Please Help!!

Remember the story of "Where the Red Fern Grows" well King & Chance are brothers from the same litter & have been together since birth. King has also ruduced in eating & I'm afraid if we loose Chance the story of Old Dan & little Anne will come true with me & I will loose King as well.

Any Help will be greatly appreciatted!!

I've never experienced this, but hopefully other members on this board will be able to offer some ideas or knowledge. Has your vet indicated what he thinks might be the cause? I hope you're able to get some answers! It hurts to see our fur-babies sick.

Aww....I have no clue.
But if he has been to the same vet five times....I'd say it is time for a second opinion. Is there a vet school near you? Vet schools are excellent at diagnosing.
Or ask your vet for a referral, perhaps to whatever specialist s/he thinks would be appropriate for his condition?
