I was just speaking with Doguelover and she has been speaking with Global TV and the woman in the newsroom is interested in running the story of the Pit bull thrown from the car in Kingston does anyone have a link to the actual article. She is also interested in seeing if they can run the graphic pit bull video so that link I have already sent to her but I did not have the other and I found no actual link in the thread. So we need this asap if anyone has it.

Hi there!!

I don't think it made the news I think they would have to contact the Kingston Humane directly.

Try not to get too upset when you read that the shelter won't make a judgement on the people in the car and the story says pushed out - not thrown. They may feel that this is validated by their statement that: “If he had been dropped off on a country road he probably would have perished,” Anne Heath of the Humane Society said yesterday". :(

Hopefully the little guy is now safe and will very shortly be loved.

Every time I visualize the puppy running after the car, my eyes start stinging.

Stupid allergies!

Dumping any dog should be illegal not just pit bulls as Mr. Bryant's Bill 132 suggests.

There is a rural area around here which seems to be a dumping ground for dogs. My guy Goggle was found out there and they believe he was there for months before they caught him. He left side has scars where the hair will never grow back, he was extremely skinny and had three types of worms but thankfully not heartworm - but he was alive. Some aren't that lucky.

Some Shelter's charge a mandatory fee for surrendering a dog, I don't know if I agree with that. Sooner or later they are driving out to pick the abandoned dog up anyways wasting time, resources and of course the dog is at risk and suffering all the while. There should be a fee but maybe there should be some leeway given if somebody says they can't afford it. Just a comment.

I knew someone who had to get rid of an animal, and they couldn't afford the fee (whole other story, and this one had a happy ending. They weren't going to "dump it" in the country and forget it). I offered to take it in myself, telling them I found it wondering. Someone said that if you do that, they still charge you to take it. We were going to put her in a comfortable box and drop it off early in the morning before I left for work. (by the way, this was before I knew there was such a thing as a rescue). I agree, we wouldn't have as many issues if it wasn't costly. On one hand, it may make some people think twice about getting rid of thier pets for stupid reasons, but I don't think it's working. This is why we have so many animals found abandoned.
