couple of puppy questions

there's just a few things i'm curious in regards to training my 12 week old pup, duffy.
we want to reward him for good behaviour, along with praise, but our vet said he should only have 2-3 biscuits a day (they're medi-cal treats). are there other things he can eat more frequently as a reward?
second, as of saturday, he mastered going up the stairs (just a set of 8--not much) but he doesn't even attempt to go down the stairs. how can we encourage him to try going down the stairs. he's only 7 pounds with pretty short legs and i'm thinking it could be a long time before he's capable of it. any thoughts

Going down will take more time and he is still very young. Going down is much scarier for them so be patient. Break the treats into little pieces make them last longer.

We give Solara carrots for treats!! She can eat as many as she wants. When she was quite small, I'd cut them up into tiny pieces, now I give her one small baby carrot as a treat. We buy the bagged pre washed baby ones :) We also give her kibble as a treat.

Hope that helps!

I've always used arrowroot biscuits, a lot less $ than dog snacks
