Banned dogs in Italy

For more than a year there has been a national breed ban law in Italy. There are 100 different breeds that are banned. You'd laugh at how rediculous it is. People who own these dogs must keep them muzzled and leashed. They must also buy special liability insurance. People with prior convictions cannot own them. Some local jusrisdictions have instructed their officials to ignore the law.

before they gave up on it. The Italian BSL list was at 90+ breeds this fall, so they have added some since then. How can ANYBODY say that this kind of thing is effective in any way, shape or form if the list keeps getting bigger. If the list gets longer then presumably bites are still happening. (Well what other reason could there be for adding more dog breeds to the list?? )

I think we should email this list to the Gov. committee members. And the final German list, if somebody can find it. It proves that this kind of thing is Futile, & never ending in it's persuit of dogs/breeds. It clearly doesn't prevent dog bites either. If it did, why would there be over a hundred dog breeds on these lists, & why would breeds keep being added?

One theory is that it is a first step in making every dog owner have specific liability insurance. Prime Minister Berlesconi is personally well invested in the insurance industry.

It is interesting to note that Rome is one of the jurisdictions where local elected officials have instructed the authorities NOT to impose or enforce the law.

I kind of like the part about the people with prior convictions cannot own them but the rest of it is pretty much online with what I suspect will happen here if the Liberals have their way . So unless they get consumed in trying to help the cops stop the weekly murders in the city , put child molesters where they belong for a much longer time ,assist in the restructuring of the child offenders act so the kids cannot laugh at the laws , find a way to follow up on some promises like lower car insurance , no tax increases , fixing the Ont hydro problem , making heathcare work without taxing us for it , do something to help the school boards educate the kids other than banning junkfood , stay the hell out of our legion halls, assist the resturant owners now that they have spend thousands on now banned smoking areas and a multitiude of other areas of "REAL" concern . I suspect that would be too much to hope for now that they plan to save the people of Ontario from a fate worse than death by banning pitbulls .

Seeker,

Don't you think that's a bit much to ask of a Liberal government? To actually do what they said they would do. You didn't actually believe them during the campaign did you?

I wanted to and in over 30 years of voting this was the first time I supported a liberal govenment . I don't think I am alone saying it will be another 30 years before i do it again . As a matter of fact next time there is an election I plan to be very active in reminding people how we have been lied to by these incompetent ,truth burying, self serving actors that have no business creating laws in areas that they know nothing about . I will be very vocal as long as Mcguinty isn't able to enact his planned "gag" law that will go into effect during an election campaign. Check it out at dumpdalton.org I am sure you will find it interesting

I didn't vote for them, but I would hope that the people who did, did believe them. Although the numbers they were spouting didn't add up (and, by the way, the big "deficit"? If you look at the numbers, they are actually a result of the McGinty promises. Even an internal audit admitted that there was no deficit for the year they took over. The deficit is a result of the Liberal promises not being doable on the Conservative budget), I would hope people didn't think they were lying about everything. Otherwise, they voted a government with no platform or plan. That'd be silly.

Like the saying goes :
"Fool me once, shame on you .Fool me twice, shame on me ."

They won't get me AND a lot of others the second time.
