training dogs to kitty litter

this sounds strange to me but now i'm curious. i met a woman the other day who has trained both of her small dogs to kitty litter. i didn't know this was possible. is this healthy for a dog? has anyone else done it? would anyone recommend it? i'm getting a little dog very soon and have never considered this and am wondering if i should get rid of the idea right away. just curious.

Yes, it's possible! My mother in law had both her tiny dogs litter trained -a Chi and a toy poodle. It's easier with a female, since most males will lift their leg at maturity.
