Great Pyrenees puppy w/nose drainage

December 12th, 2004, 09:22 AM
Just got a 3 month old great pyrenees puppy. The pup is thin about 15 lbs and has a nose drain that is greenish in color. The dog came from a kennel and I suspect was not in good health to begin with. Due to my unfamilarness with this breed, I can't tell that it's activity is normal or if it's due to a illness. He had some medicine for worms but doesn't seem to eat very much. Any ideas, suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you

15 lbs?

Where did you get this worm medication? If you are medicating him yourself, please do NOT!

The green discharge could indicate a respiratory infection at the very least, and he could have other things wrong with him, such as a contagious/fatal disease..

He needs to go to the vet ASAP. Please don't delay. This puppy could easily die.

Sounds to me this little pup has an infection.

At this age the pup should be fairly active.

Sounds like he came from either a BYB or a puppy mill.No licenced breeder would sell a sick puppy.

Please take him to a vets to get checked before he gets worse.

Is he eating and drinking? What is he eating? And how much.

Not to sound rude or anything, but you didn't research this breed?

At 3 months, this puppy should be 30 - 40lbs. I can't believe he's alive.:(

Yeah, Mona - you imagine what kind of "breeder" this is. Probably gave a discount on a dying puppy.
