Hi ! Just thought I would recall a conversation I had with a lady Thursday just gone. This lady and her husband had up untill the wednesday before last owend a Lurcher cross dog which they had,Had for around 8 yrs. They had originally come by the dog from a rescue centre and it was 2yrs old at the time.Over the years this dog had been well behaved and was much loved by them both.Unfortunately at the begining of this year it had started nipping and gradually they found that what was once just mouthing became more like biteing during play. They had spoken to animal behaviourists and thier vet about the problem,But nothing they tried or did stopped the problem.Unfortunately the dog actually bit the husband and he needed Hospital treatment for his injuries to his hand. They had a long discussion about what to do,And the husband was not really in favour but reluctantly agreed to have the dog PTS.The thing is,That dog could have have had a heradetary trait or something medically wrong going on, Maybe brain wise who knows? This poor lady was still upset with herself as she spoke to me about it all  All I could offer as condolence was the fact that they had given the dog a good home for some years. And I think it shows that as much as we may think we trust our dogs there is always that 1% in any dog you cant account for.Its not a case of selective breeds being banned its just the simple fact of being responsible I suppose ;)
