Why Fantino and Miller suport the ban

It was always pretty clear why Miller was in favour of the ban , he had just struck a deal to get some of the "gas" tax from Mcguinty. So why bite the hand that feeds ?
It was not so clear as to why Fantino also was in favour . He should know all to well that other dogs can be as harmful or more harmful to his officers once trained to protect drugdealers and their stashes .
Today it was made very clear . OUR BELOVED CHIEF FANTINO is on the short list for a government appointed position to oversee emergency proceedures or something along those lines . He has been in talks with leading Liberal members regarding this position for at least a couple of months . So I suppose he is thinking like the Mayor and doesn't want to bite the hand that feeds . So much for thinking about the officer's saftey it is nothing but a self serving move .He is cutting "rumoured" ties with the Tories to jump on a sinking ship .
Go for it chief and in about 3 years you'll be looking for another job .

The last person to hold that job was an MD, since part of the duties require strong medical knowledge. City tv was chasing Smitherman(health minister) around asking him exactly how could Fantino qualify. Smitherman just ran away.

They said that part of McGuinty's motive is that he is VERY afraid that Fantino might decide to run against the Liberals at some point, so they want him occupied and controlable.

When the time comes that won't make any difference whatsoever .
But it is good to see that Mcgimpey is starting to think about possibly losing the next election DUH.

Sorry Dalton , I think I misspelled your last name , I tried to edit the post but it wouldn't let me . I really really tried and I am being as honest as you were when you said "the people of ontario wouldn't pay a penny more in taxes under a liberal govenment ". Remember that ? I bet you wish you could have edited that one huh ?

I think it was just an easy decision for the chief to jump onboard the "public safety" wagon with this one. Why would he stick his neck out to defend the lives of pit bulls? He doesn't care about these poor dogs. Unfortunately most cops view pit bulls in their worst light, at 3 in the morning, on the end of some gang-banger's arm. They don't stop and think about that poor dog's life.

Cops can be just as ignorant and close-minded about pit bulls as anyone else, and their uneducated assessments/opinions and interactions with "the breed" definitely spread through the police grapevine, including into the chief's office.
