geriatric pregnancy

our nine year old daschund has become pregnant. we were very surprised. any advice, known risks of older dogs having puppies, etc. any help appreciated

How come she wasn't fix?, their are so many risk with her age but I will let someone else get into it as I many leave something out.

This dog is way, WAY too old to be having puppies and may not survive. At the very least, she may need a C-section and the puppies may die.

This would be like YOU having triplets when you are 55-60 years old.

You need to abort and spay her now.

She should have been spayed 8 years ago and you're lucky she never got pyometra or cancer in her reproductive organs.

Please, be responsible and kind and end this pregnancy.

Most veterinarians will spay a pregnant dog, depending how far along she is. Considering her age, most veterinarians will probably recommend it.
