Dog breed description

The Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen is a scent hound developed to hunt small game over the rough and difficult terrain of the Vendéen region. One of the four rough-coated hound breeds from Vendéen, France the Petit Bassett Griffon Vendéen is the smallest. He is bold and vivacious in character, compact, tough and robust in construction. Traced to the 16th century and directly to the Griffon Vendéen. He comes from La Vendee a district in the western coast of France. The Vendéen's were directly bred from the white Southern Hound and rough-coated dogs from Italy.
