breed description
|
The Petit Basset Griffon
Vendéen is a scent hound developed to hunt small game over the
rough and difficult terrain of the Vendéen region. One of the
four rough-coated hound breeds from Vendéen, France the Petit
Bassett Griffon Vendéen is the smallest. He is bold and vivacious
in character, compact, tough and robust in construction. Traced to the
16th century and directly to the Griffon Vendéen. He comes from
La Vendee a district in the western coast of France. The Vendéen's
were directly bred from the white Southern Hound and rough-coated dogs
from Italy.
