Exercise needs
Needs plenty of exercise, but be careful not to jogged with him over long distances as he is heavy in structure and predisposition to hip problems. Ample space is necessary and he needs to be put to work to keep his mind active

Alert, responsive, even tempered

Gentle with family children but may be intolerant of other children. If raised with other pets, the Bouvier will be tolerant. He also may be dog aggressive.

Grooming needs
Regular attention should be given to his teeth, nails and ears. Weekly brushing is a must.

Dog breed description

The Bouvier des Flandres is a powerfully built, compact, rough-coated dog of rugged appearance. He is agile, spirited and bold with a calm and steady manner. The Bouvier is easy going but aloof, he can sometimes be serious or moody. His herding instincts will keep him close to home. Used in police work and helping the blind, he loves the company of people.
